A tournament is a competition that involves a large number of participants in a particular sport or game. A tournament consists of multiple matches, or rounds, with the winner of each match advancing to the next round and eventually declared the overall winner. Tournaments can be held at local, regional, national or international levels. They are common in team and racket sports, combat and board games, and some forms of competitive debating.

In poker, the highest hand wins. This is a combination of the two cards in your hand, along with five community cards that are revealed after each betting round. If two hands have the same pair or higher, they are ranked by rank (aces beat three of a kind, high cards break ties).

For example, say you are dealt a pair of kings off the flop. This is a fairly good hand and you decide to call the raise from the person in front of you. During this stage of the game, you are likely to encounter other players who will try to read your tells. These are the unconscious habits that a poker player exhibits, which can reveal information about their hand.
